Positive Community Impact

TAL is committed to delivering social, economic and environmental value on all projects, and to maximizing the positive impact we can have in the communities in which we work, creating shared value for business, local communities and society in general.

This includes providing student placements, apprenticeships and employment opportunities for the long-term unemployed. We engage with local schools, technical colleges, universities, training providers, vocational learning centres, Department for Employment and Learning, and local employment offices to provide training and employment opportunities.

Our H&S Manager is a CITB Ambassador and visits schools regularly to encourage students into the construction industry.

We often facilitate local school site visits and regularly participate in local community initiatives.

Enhancing the communities in which we work is a cornerstone of our business, and on all projects we aim to add social value beyond statutory requirements and outcomes, as we believe there are benefits in innovation and value that can be gained through greater partnership and engagement with the social enterprise sector, by embedding social value in contracts, supply chain and the communities we work in, creating sustainable communities and bringing security to families and individuals.

In line with Government’s ‘Achieving Excellence in Construction’ initiative we continue to provide local supply chain opportunities, where possible, and encourage our trade contractors to do the same.

Considerate Constructors Scheme

We register projects with the Considerate Constructors Scheme providing a structured and fully auditable approach to management of appearance, respecting the community, protecting the environment, securing everyone’s safety and valuing our workforce. In the last 12 months we have consistently achieved ‘Performance Beyond Compliance’.
